The situation
In August 2026, a powerful earthquake struck Colombia, shaking communities across the western part of the country and leaving families displaced from their homes. The full scale of the damage is still being assessed as aftershocks continue and rescue teams work through affected neighborhoods.
Thousands of families are in urgent need of shelter, clean water, food, and medical care. Hospitals in the affected areas are stretched thin, and many roads and bridges have been damaged, making it harder for aid to reach the most remote communities. Children, the elderly, and people with disabilities are especially vulnerable in the days following the disaster.
Relief organizations on the ground are working around the clock to reach affected families. With support from donors, they can distribute emergency supplies, set up temporary shelters, and help communities begin the long road to recovery.
